Meet  Jenay

Jenay Hicks, MS , LPC, NCC

I understand firsthand the critical mental health needs of progressive leaders and advocates and the systemic issues that lead to burnout. My work is dedicated to empowering these high-performers to navigate emotional challenges with clarity and resilience.

My journey began at Morehouse School of Medicine, where I discovered my passion for supporting clinicians and health professionals mental health. While working with Progressive Organizations in Georgia and the Office of Health Access at Grady Hospital I continued to bring innovative approaches to workplace wellness and uplift underserved communities.

Witnessing how tirelessly my clients work to build a better world makes me double down on what I consider my life’s calling: to impart the emotional intelligence and resilience they need to 1. make the greatest impact in 2. the most sustainable ways possible, while they 3. create psychologically safe spaces where everyone can flourish.

My approach is rooted in the belief that every person has the capacity to reach their full potential. Through evidence-based, trauma-informed techniques, I help clients articulate their “why,” so they can confront anxiety, grief, and uncertainty with confidence.

Through my private practice, I offer individual and group therapy, executive coaching, and wellness workshops, all aimed at creating compassionate environments where professional success and personal wellness are one.

Meet  Kanika

Kanika Bell, Ph.D.

I am a co-founder of addJOY, LLC. I am a licensed psychologist
specializing in clinical and forensic psychology and an associate
professor at Clark Atlanta University. I received my undergraduate
degree in psychology from Spelman College and masters and
doctoral degrees from Auburn University. I divide my professional
time between all facets of clinical psychology including individual,
couples and group therapy, clinical assessments and psychological
evaluations, scholarly research, and consulting. I am the co-owner
of A.T.L. Psychotherapy and Consulting Services, LLC in Atlanta, GA,
and my current clinical interests involve children, adults, and families
affected by the legal system, adults coping with occupational stress,
relationship counseling, and issues that impact women of color
specifically.

During the writing of a volume entitled Black Women’s Mental
Health: Balancing Strength and Vulnerability, I realized that in the
midst of trying to survive...folks forgot to thrive. Joy for me means
living balanced and optimally, thus I began to dedicate my clinical,
research and academic interests to the use of joy as a therapeutic
tool. Whether I am treating individual clients, doing therapy with
couples, coaching executives on self-care and diversity issues, or
appearing on television discussing mental health, I bring humor and
liveliness to every environment. I am a professional Peace Provider
and Laughter Liaison.
