One of the biggest misconceptions about suicidality is that thoughts of harm only surface for people struggling with severe mental illnessā¦FALSE. When life feels overwhelming, thoughts of suicide often arise because people want to FEEL better, but they can't find a clear route to "BETTER." Therapy is capacity building. In therapy, we teach emotional balance so clients can better manage the intensity of their overwhelming feelings.
